My Background & Experience
My name is Helena and I am an Ofsted registered childminder based in Yeovil, Somerset. I am 54 years old, married to Paul who is a computer software engineer and a mum to my daughter Jessica who is 16 years old. I live in the Mudford Road area of Yeovil.
My husband and I are very fortunate to own a detached house with a play room which I use for childminding. I am also able to use the conservatory. There is a large garden with patio, grass area, pergola and decking area. At the bottom of the garden is a Summer house which doubles up as soft play and is a great place for the children to challenge their physical abilities and move freely in a safe environment. Behind my house is the Mudford Recreation Ground a two minute walk which is very convenient and lovely for the children.
I have a pedigree ragdoll cat called Gizmo and a Golden Retriever dog called Phoebe. The children love them and I think the feeling is mutual!
By way of background, I re-trained as a childminder after my daughter was born in order to be close at hand for my daughter during the week and also because I love being with children!
My previous employment has been as a legal secretary and also as a software trainer for schools. I understand that these roles are very different from childminding but I am able to bring both teaching experience and organisational skills to the table, which is very important in childminding and especially when working with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
